Medici Society
The Medici Family dominated the culture and business in Florence, Italy, from the 13th to the 16th century. During this time the family developed a model for private support for the arts. This model has been successfully replicated in Europe and America throughout the 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, and the Foundation now has its own Medici Society.
The Medici Society connects families, friends and alumni in order to:
- recognize and support the School alumni and the South Carolina-based artists who have made significant contributions to the arts and/or who have achieved recognition in their professions;
- provide a long-term financial support base for the School; and
- create an annual event to honor selected alumni, art patrons, and artists for their contributions to the arts and arts education.
