Songwriters in the Round

Four incredible performers lit up the stage for a night to be remembered!

November 5, 2009

Focused on celebrating music and the songwriter, our SONGWRITERS IN THE ROUND showcased four fantastic artists to perform their original music in an intimate setting at The Green Room, Greenville's newest downtown spot for friends and food.  Our guests experienced an up-close-and-personal look at just how electrifying songwriting can be!  All proceeds benefited the Governor's School for the Arts Foundation.

OUR SONGWRITERS:

LEE BRICE
Songwriter and Sumter native Lee Brice's songs have been recorded by Garth Brooks, Jason Aldean, Cowboy Crush, Adam Gregory and Keith Gattis.  Brice made his debut as a performer on the American country music scene in 2007 with the single "She Ain't Right", which was a Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts.

TONY HASELDEN
Singer-songwriter-lead guitarist Tony Haselden is a founding member of Louisiana's LeRoux, who recorded five albums and produced the southern standards "New Orleans Ladies" and "Nobody Said It Was Easy." After touring with Foreigner, Journey, ZZ Top, The Doobie Brothers, Beach Boys, and Kansas, Haselden relocated to Nashville where he scored his first independent songwriting hit, Shenandoah's "Mama Knows." Haselden's songs have also appeared on albums by Shania Twain, Keith Whitley, George Strait, Collin Raye, Toby Keith, Trisha Yearwood, Marie Osmond, Shelby Lynne and the list goes on. An award-winning producer, Haselden has also produced gold and platinum albums for The Kinleys and the Wilkinsons and contributed to other projects for Giant Records and Dreamworks.

PHILLIP LAMMONDS
Phillip Lammonds is a seasoned performer and songwriter. He's been playing music since his teens and was a founding member of The Blue Dogs, a staple in the southeastern U.S. college circuit. He also performed with legendary bluegrass band, The Seldom Scene. With songs recorded by Edwin McCain, Blake Shelton, Josh Turner, Shawn Camp, Hot Apple Pie, and new artist Chad Austin, he's well on his way to a very successful ride in the music business.

SARAH MAJORS
Sarah Majors has been a professional songwriter since 1994. Her songs have been recorded in country, pop, bluegrass, contemporary folk and gospel genres. A Tennessee native, Sarah won a BMI Millionaire award for "Love Lessons" by Tracy Byrd which was the title track and a top 5 hit single. With her place among the Nashville songwriting community firmly established and after a brief stint as a recording artist, Sarah realized that her passion was writing and in particular, developing new artist/writers. Some of the artists that have recorded her songs include Trisha Yearwood, Trace Adkins, Vince Gill/Jenny Gill, The Kinleys, Rissi Palmer, Michelle Wright, No Secrets, The Wilkinsons, Michael Peterson, Maia Sharp, Matt King, Megan Mullins, John Cowan and the Grooveyards, Ashley Monroe, Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike, just to name a few. Sarah's songs have also been featured on the hit ABC show, Extreme Makeover; in the movie "Trailer Park Of Terror;" two songs on the cd/documentary project "This Is My America;" and the television drama Saving Grace.
