Virginia Uldrick's 80th Birthday Celebration
The Governor's School for the Arts Foundation invites you to join us in celebrating Virginia Uldrick's 80th birthday. Not only are we celebrating Dr. Uldrick's magnificent 80 years, but we also commemorate the gift of her leadership in education and our state's arts community. As Founder and first President of the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities, she has helped to change the lives of countless young emerging artists in South Carolina.
All net proceeds from the event will benefit the Virginia and Marion Uldrick Guest Artist Fund. This fund supports the Guest Artist Program at the Governor's School. In keeping with the School's master-apprentice method of teaching, the Guest Artist Program is crucial to enhancing excellence in arts education for these aspiring artists. The program allows professional artists from all over the world to visit the School and work with the students by conducting hands-on master classes and seminars. These artists engage the students in heightened, authentic experiences that reveal the dedication, craftsmanship and passion necessary to be successful in their specific art areas. As President Emerita Dr. Virginia Uldrick has oft observed, "Once you take a child to the mountaintop, he will never return to the valley."
